Hexagram 24: Return (復) & Tzolkin

Hexagram 24 Return (復 Fù) in I Ching and Tzolkin: Earth over Thunder, the turning point after rest. It maps to kins 93–96 — a return of exploration, vision, and intelligence.

復 fù · Return

Return (復, Fù) is the hexagram of the turning point — Earth over Thunder, a single yang line reviving beneath five yin lines. Thunder hidden within the earth signals a movement not yet erupted: an image of the solstice, when the old dies away and new growth is only beginning to stir in silence.

In the Argüelles Codon system, hexagram 24 corresponds to kins 93–96 of the Tzolkin calendar — four signatures running from the Red Skywalker through the White Wizard and Blue Eagle to the Yellow Warrior. Their tones (2 through 5) and seals — exploration, timelessness, vision, intelligence — read like successive steps of a return to motion: first a cautious venture out, then patience, clarity of vision, and finally the courage to act.

Set side by side, both traditions describe the same moment: return is not a sudden leap but a gradual revival of motion out of rest — a lens, not a proven identity between systems.

The Judgment

Return. Success. Going out and coming in without error. Friends come without blame. The turning point arrives — new growth begins after a period of rest.

The Image

Thunder within the earth: the image of the Turning Point. The kings of old closed the passes at the time of solstice.
