Hexagram 61: Inner Truth (中孚) & Tzolkin
Hexagram 61 Inner Truth (中孚 zhōng fú) in I Ching and Tzolkin: Wind over Lake, sincerity reaching everything. Kins 241–244: birth, spirit, abundance, flowering.
中孚 zhōng fú · Inner Truth
Inner Truth (中孚, Zhōng Fú) is the hexagram of sincerity reaching all the way through — Wind above, Lake below, an unseen current stirring a still surface from within. The judgment says this truth reaches even pigs and fish, the least receptive of creatures: authenticity needs no persuasion, it simply penetrates. The superior person reviews criminal cases with mercy, delaying judgment when uncertainty remains.
In the Argüelles Codon system, hexagram 61 corresponds to kins 241–244 of the Tzolkin calendar — four tones of one wavespell: Red Dragon (Birth), White Wind (Spirit), Blue Night (Abundance), Yellow Seed (Flowering). The echo is literal: the hexagram’s upper trigram is Wind, and among these kins the seal of Wind carries Spirit — the same element moving what looks still.
Both traditions point to the same phenomenon: sincerity needs no force to spread — it only needs to exist. This is a bridge, not a proof: a convergence of two independent systems of time, worth reading as inspiration rather than settled doctrine.
The Judgment
Inner Truth. Pigs and fishes. Good fortune. It furthers one to cross the great water. Perseverance furthers. Sincerity that reaches even the most resistant — truth penetrates all barriers.
