Dog (Oc) — White Tribe of Love and Loyalty

Dog (Oc) is the tenth tribe of the Tzolkin: heart, loyalty, unconditional love. The White tribe of the North teaches loving without conditions, but with boundaries.

Dog (Oc) is the tenth tribe of the Tzolkin and the third sign of the white family. In Maya tradition Oc names the faithful companion, the guardian of the threshold, the guide of souls through the underworld. The White tribe of the North opens the wavespell of the White Dog at Kin 170 (White Magnetic Dog) — it brings the theme of unconditional love into the cycle’s second half.

Tribal energy

Oc is the tribe of love, loyalty, the inner heart. In Dreamspell Dog governs what you love even when you receive nothing in return: family, partners, animals, causes. The white color signifies the discipline of the heart; the northern direction — refinement; the water element — the tender element. Oc teaches that unconditional love does not mean “anything goes” — it means “I love you fully, regardless of how you behave today, and at the same time I do not lose my boundaries”.

In the Mayan calendar Oc was the sign of companions on journeys to the underworld, soul-keepers, those who lead others through darkness. Days of Oc were days of reconciliations, declarations of fidelity, blessings of animals. The Dog tribe teaches that love that costs you yourself is not love — it is bondage in the costume of virtue.

Your signature, if this is your sign

Born under the Dog tribe, you have the gift of love that needs no reason — people feel simply liked around you, and it heals them. Your strength is unconditionality combined with the sense of when to draw a line. Your challenge can be over-loving those who wound — an Oc that loves harder when offended eventually loses itself. Your practice: when someone wounds you, don’t increase love — increase awareness. Keep loving, but don’t pretend nothing happened.

Practice of the sign

On Oc days pick one person and send them a short, unconditional acknowledgment: I see you, I’m glad you exist, I don’t need anything from you in return now. Then check whether in another relationship you went too far with compromise — set a quiet boundary, even a small one. Oc teaches: love without boundaries eventually disappears; love with boundaries endures.

The Dog tribe favors practices around animal care, volunteering, hospice work. On an Oc day spend time with a dog, a cat, a horse — animals teach unconditionality faster than books.
